Puppy Training

We offer a positive learning environment where you can lay the foundation for your puppy to develop important life skills, and start your relationship and training off on the right foot. We use different exercises and activities to help you build your bond with your puppy, address common puppy behaviours, establish good manners, lay the proper foundation for further training, and provide the opportunity to socialize your puppy with different dogs, people and environments.

Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy Kindergarten is a general course that introduces a variety of foundational skills to help start your training off on the right foot. This includes topics such as; managing various puppy-related issues, socializing your puppy, and introducing foundational obedience skills. Our goal is to give you the tools to lay the right foundation with your puppy and build your relationship – so you can continue their training and help them become the perfect canine companion!

As part of the course, you will receive access to a recorded Intro Talk. This session introduces the training techniques we will use and provides strategies to address common puppy behaviours, such as house training, nipping, and biting.

Crate Games

Crate training is an important life skill that every dog should have, because at some point in your puppy’s life, they will need to be crated. It could be to keep them safe and out of mischief at home, an overnight stay at the vet, during travel, or simply to provide a calm, secure space when they’re feeling unsure.

Inspired by world-renown trainer Susan Garrett, the Crate Games course is designed to help puppies build a happy, confident relationship with their crate. Whether you’re looking to start your puppy’s crate training off on the right foot, or if they have already developed a negative association with the crate, this course will guide you through fun, reward-based games that teach your puppy to truly enjoy their crate.

The exercises in this course can also be used to teach your puppy a rock-solid ‘Place’.

Skills Include:

  • Getting comfortable going in the crate
  • Adding a cue to go in the crate
  • Learning to stay in the crate until released, no matter what
  • Building drive and enthusiasm for being in the crate
  • Being comfortable and relaxed while in their crate

Crate Games consists of four 1-hour group classes that take place the same time each week at Tumblewood Canine. Maximum 4 dogs per class.

Price: $240 for 4-week course

“We put our 3 month old pup, Bruno, into the puppy kindergarten program. We liked Kim’s training philosophy and approach and were impressed by how quickly we saw results with Bruno. We’re going to continue on with some of the other programs she’s offering. Great facility as well.”

~ Rob and Bruno

“We completed the puppy kindergarten program which was great! The classes are small in size which is awesome as it really ensures that each dog has the right amount of attention and is set up for success by the end of the program.”

~ Debbie and Luna
